ICANN IDN Observatory

Every code point rule in IANA's Internationalized Domain Name tables, tracked per language and script.

The Index
Each row is one language/script variant, aggregated across every IANA-published IDN table (one row per registry, i.e. TLD) that publishes it. Unlike locale variants of the same language, these are not merged: Chinese is split into zh, zh-Hans, zh-Hant, and zh-Hani because registries use them for genuinely different Han-character repertoires (simplified vs. traditional vs. unspecified), not as duplicate labels for the same table. Click a row to see its rule composition and the registries behind it.
